Traditional Saunas

Traditional Saunas

Saunas have been used for centuries and are well-known for their therapeutic benefits. They provide a relaxing and rejuvenating experience while offering several health advantages. Additionally, there are different types of saunas, including traditional saunas (sometimes referred as Finnish Saunas) and infrared saunas, each with their own unique features.

In a traditional sauna, the heat is generated by a stove or heater that typically burns wood or, in modern saunas, uses electric heating elements. The stove or heater heats up rocks or stones, which radiate heat throughout the sauna. Water can be poured onto the hot stones to produce steam, increasing the humidity and creating a more intense heat experience.

Benefits of Saunas:

  • Relaxation and Stress Relief: Saunas provide a peaceful environment that promotes relaxation and helps reduce stress. The heat and the calm atmosphere help relax both the mind and body, relieving tension and promoting a sense of well-being.
  • Detoxification: Sweating is one of the primary ways our bodies eliminate toxins. Saunas help stimulate sweating, which aids in the detoxification process by flushing out impurities through the skin. This can improve overall health and skin condition.
  • Improved Circulation: The heat in saunas causes blood vessels to dilate, leading to improved circulation. Enhanced blood flow carries oxygen and nutrients more efficiently to various organs and muscles, promoting overall cardiovascular health.
  • Muscle Recovery and Pain Relief: Saunas can provide relief from muscle soreness and joint pain. The heat helps relax muscles, reduces inflammation, and increases blood flow to injured areas, accelerating the healing process.
  • Improved Respiratory Function: The warm and moist environment in saunas can help alleviate respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and sinus congestion. The heat can open up airways and facilitate easier breathing.
  • Skin Health: Saunas promote healthy, glowing skin. The increased blood circulation helps deliver nutrients and oxygen to the skin, resulting in improved elasticity and a more youthful appearance. Sweating also cleanses the pores, removing dead skin cells and impurities.
